Red Sox SS Trevor Story to have season-ending surgery

While the Red Sox have done well on the field to start the year, they've had some bad luck with injuries early on. Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow announced on Tuesday that Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story is having season-ending surgery to repair a fractured glenoid in his left shoulder. The timetable for recovery is expected to be around six months which would put us into October. Story finishes his third season in Boston having played just eight games and hitting .226 with a .617 OPS and four RBIs.  In three years since signing with the Red Sox, he's appeared in just 145 games. Manager Alex Cora said the team plans to platoon at both second base and shortstop for now.
